Oyakofs Day

The second Sunday in May is gMotherfs Dayh
The third Sunday in June is "Father's Day"
The fourth Sunday in July is "Oyako's Day"

Oyako is the Japanese word for parents and children

"Oyakofs Day" is a social action started by American photographer Bruce
Osborn and his wife Yoshiko. Oyako, the Japanese word for parents and
children, is a subject that Bruce has been photographing for the last
23 years. In that time, he has taken over 700 families and it has
become Bruce and Yoshikofs glifefs workh.

The parent and child link as the most basic of all relations. Something
that every one of can identify with and at the same time there is a
unique bond existing between every parent and child. In honor of this
special relationship, Bruce and Yoshiko decided to make a day of
celebration. Since the second Sunday of May is "Motherfs Day", and the
third Sunday of June "Fatherfs Day", they choose that the fourth Sunday
of July as "Oyakofs Day". On this day, 100 families are invited to the
studio to have their photos taken by Bruce. The first "Oyakofs Day" was
July 27, 2003. We feel very fortunate to see this annual event grow
larger every year with the support of a number of organizations and
individuals.
